#Catalyst is a National Library initiative to promote community engagement and co-solutioning on critical national issues.
The first edition of Catalyst, “Trust in an AI-supercharged World” – jointly organised by the National Library Board (NLB) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) – places focus not on just Artificial Intelligence (AI), but zooms in on the critical legal and ethical concerns & considerations of this megatrend.
In the Catalyst “Bootstrap Conversations: AI X Retail” session recently, panellists with their diverse backgrounds in the Retail and Tech sectors brought their perspectives to the table making it an invaluable and insightful session for attendees.

Together, Eugene Pang - Assistant Director at Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS), Joanna Reijgersberg-Siew – Founder of Captain Cranberry, and Alex Chua – Country Director at Pixlr Group, discussed how AI can personalize the customer journey, enhance product development, and optimize supply-chain systems; and how innovative advancements of AI-driven creative design tools like Pixlr and Designs.ai are revolutionizing content creation and marketing strategies, and driving business and operational excellence. But underscoring the valuable contributions of AI, the crux of the discussion revolved around how ensuring ethically-driven AI solutions can potentially add tremendous value in contributing to building trust in the customer experience, and in turn driving business value as a unique competitive differentiator.
SIRS is proud to be a participant of the NLB Catalyst initiative, where such conversations are only the beginning of a journey that aims to dig deeper towards enabling the next stages of ground-up co-solutioning and the development of project communities.
