Synagie and SIRS partner to springboard eCommerce opportunities for Europe market
It was indeed a happy Friday on 5 Aug 2022 as SIRS formalised our partnership with Synagie to co-develop and roll out a digital commerce talent training and placement programme to equip Singapore-based workers with the skills needed to venture into eCommerce career opportunities in Europe!
An MoU was signed by Ms Jeanne Liew, Principal & Chief Executive Officer of Nanyang Polytechnic and Ms Olive Tai, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Synagie, and officiated by Ms Low Yen Ling, Minister of State for Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth – MCCY and Ministry of Trade & Industry.
The MoU signing was part of the ‘Work in the Future – eCommerce Open House’ attended by graduands of SIRS, NYP Alumni and graduates, along with mid-career job seekers interested in transitioning into the digital commerce industry. Besides witnessing the MoU signing, they also heard an encouraging opening address by MOS Ms Low Yen Ling, as well as inspiring talks from Synagie’s Ms Olive Tai and Mr Micheas Chan, and SIRS’ Ms Megan Ong on various advisory, training, and support programmes available to help them get started in their digital commerce journey.
Cross-border eCommerce is a booming industry set to thrive with long-term growth globally. With 65 million online shoppers, Europe’s eCommerce market is worth S$600 billion, five times that of Southeast Asia! We must continually innovate and stay ahead with up-to-date skills and knowledge to succeed in an increasingly competitive digital commerce world.
As shared by Ms Megan Ong, Director of SIRS, at the event “Singapore being the Southeast Asian hub for cross-border eCommerce, our enterprises are constantly exploring opportunities for growth, both within and outside the region. We are pleased to support Synagie in their expansion into the European market through our training and talent programmes to equip both employees and retailers with the relevant eCommerce skills for them to ride the wave and leverage exciting opportunities in Europe through this collaboration.”
SIRS is excited about this partnership to train and place talented Singaporeans with our carefully curated curriculum to develop key skills in Channel Store Development, Creative Design, Cross-border Engagement, Marketing, and Customer Service to support Synagie’s expansion into Europe. Through this collaboration, both parties will collectively incubate 300 talents and 700 merchants to prepare them for the Europe market.
